In AEO, a prompt is the buyer question you run against answer engines: a category question, a comparison, an alternatives query, or a pricing question. Prompts are the input to every visibility measurement.
Prompts are usually metered, so it helps to be precise about what one unit includes. In Sonarvue, one tracked prompt is one active combination of prompt text, brand, country, and language, and it includes all eight default engines. The same text for a second brand, country, or language is a separate slot.
Good prompt sets are small and deliberate. They cover the questions that create a shortlist, not every keyword you can think of. Ten well-chosen prompts, rerun over time, beat a thousand one-time checks because they show direction instead of a snapshot.
