How unicode "small text" works
These aren't smaller fonts - they're separate unicode characters that happen to look small: ᵇᵘᶦˡᵈ (superscript), ʙᴜɪʟᴅ (small caps), ⓑⓤⓘⓛⓓ (bubble). Because they're characters, not styles, they survive copy-paste into Instagram, X, Discord, and most places plain text goes - and screen readers may announce them awkwardly, so use them for accents, not paragraphs.
Some apps render a few of the rarer glyphs as boxes; that's the app's font, not a bug in the conversion. If a style looks broken where you paste it, try small caps - it's the best supported.
When you're done decorating the bio, see whether the machines can read your actual site: grade your AI-readiness or start a visibility trial.
Where small text works best
- Social bios on Instagram, TikTok, and X
- Usernames and nicknames in Discord and games
- WhatsApp status lines and short captions
- Plain text docs where a heading needs to stand out without styles
One rule of thumb: keep it as an accent. Some screen readers announce the mapped letters oddly, and teams scanning your copy with machines may trip on them, so decorate a nickname or a divider with small text and keep real sentences in normal letters.
Small text generator FAQ
How does a small text generator work?
It swaps each regular letter for a unicode character that looks smaller, like small caps or superscript. The result is not a smaller font size, they are different characters, which is why the effect survives copy and paste into bios and usernames.
Why does small text show boxes in some apps?
The app you pasted into uses a font with no glyph for that character, so it shows a fallback box. Small caps have the widest unicode support; if a superscript or bubble style looks broken, switch styles instead of retyping.
Can search engines and screen readers read small caps?
Mostly, but awkwardly: helpers may announce each mapped letter separately. Use small text as decoration on short strings, not for sentences you need people or tools to read reliably.
Is small text safe in usernames?
Usually. The characters are plain unicode text, so most platforms accept them in handles. A few sites block unusual glyphs, so test the name on the platform before you commit to it everywhere.
