Online text editor
A quiet place to write. Live counts as you type - words, characters, sentences, reading time - plus the cleanups writers actually need: whitespace, line breaks, case. Download as .txt or copy. Nothing uploads.
- Autosaves to your browser
- Nothing uploaded
- Unlimited length
Autosaves to this browser only · clear clears the local copy too
Why a plain editor instead of a document app
When you're drafting copy, notes, or alt text you don't need margins - you need counts and a fast way to kill double spaces and stray blank lines before the text moves to its real home. This stays out of the way: type, glance at the numbers, run a cleanup, ship.
Everything runs locally and autosaves to this browser, so closing the tab keeps your text. When the draft is good enough to evaluate: the AI content detector reads its cadence, the grammar checker fixes the mechanics, and Sonarvue tracks whether the answer engines ever surface it.
Writing drafts, alt text, and notes in one place
- Blog drafts and email copy where live counts replace a separate word counter
- Image alt text before it goes into a CMS
- Meeting notes that need the double-space and blank-line cleanup
- Quick transcriptions and captions
Online text editor FAQ
Does this text editor save my work?
Your draft autosaves to this browser only, with no account and no server. If you switch devices or clear browser data the text is gone, so download the final version as a .txt file when it matters.
How many words can I write here?
Tens of thousands of words are fine. The live counts and cleanups are tuned for drafts up to a few blog posts in length; for book length work, a dedicated editor with styles is a better fit.
What can I clean up automatically?
Double spaces, trailing whitespace, repeated blank lines, and case fixes across a selection. Every cleanup is one click and touches only what its rule covers, so a paragraph of dialogue keeps its line breaks.
Can I get a word count for text without editing it?
Yes. Paste, read the counts, close the tab. Nothing is uploaded. Getting a fast word and character count for an article drafted elsewhere is one of the most common uses.
